WILLIAM H. BROWN
Fourth Chairman of the EEOC, May 5, 1969 - December 23,
1973
William H. Brown III, appointed by President Lyndon Johnson,
served as the fourth Chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission from May 5, 1969 to December 23, 1973.
Prior to his appointment as the fourth chairman of the
Commission, Mr. Brown was Deputy District Attorney for the
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania District Attorney's office, a position
he occupied after having been appointed Chief of Frauds for that
same office early in 1968.
In 1963, he became a full partner in the Philadelphia law firm
of Norris, Brown and Hall, where he stayed until joining the
Philadelphia District Attorney's office.
Mr. Brown received his B.S. degree from Temple University in
1952 and an L.L.B. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School
in 1955.
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mr. Brown is now an
attorney with Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis in
Philadelphia.
