Chair Jacqueline A. Berrien's Statement on the 45th Anniversary of EEOC

EEOC Chair Jacqueline BerrienDear EEOC Colleagues:

The work of the EEOC in enforcing many of the nation's most important civil rights laws has transformed the American workplace and achieved justice for countless individuals.  This year marks the 45th anniversary of the opening of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the 20th Anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA").  The celebration of these important events will begin in July and continue for the rest of 2010.  We have an exciting opportunity during the coming months to celebrate the achievements of the Commission, inform the public about the continuing significance of our work, and recognize the contributions of the many dedicated men and women who have worked to ensure the success of the EEOC since the agency first began to serve the public on July 2, 1965.
