The Washington Field Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has internship opportunities available for upper-level undergraduate (juniors and seniors), graduate, and law students starting in January 2010. The EEOC is the federal agency charged with enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and the Equal Pay Act.
Interns will conduct interviews of individuals who present us with allegations of employment discrimination and will also analyze case files for compliance with federal employment discrimination laws. Interns will conduct interviews of employers and of individuals who have filed employment discrimination complaints. Law school students may also be assigned projects from the supervisory trial attorney.
Applicants should have strong analytical, communication, research and writing skills. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Interns should expect to work 20 hours per week. More hours are available, if desired. EEOC internships are unpaid; however, interns may receive academic credit. The EEOC is an equal opportunity employer.
