Anderson Appointed New District Director of EEOC'S Birmingham District Office

WASHINGTON - Victoria A. Lipnic, Acting Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), has appointed Bradley A. Anderson as district director of the EEOC's Birmingham District Office, the federal agency announced today.

"I am pleased to welcome Bradley Anderson to the senior executive corps at the EEOC and to Birmingham, one of our flagship offices," Acting Chair Lipnic said. "He brings a tremendous depth of experience, a record of success, and a passion for civil rights work to the EEOC. We are glad to have him join the agency."

Anderson has dedicated most of his professional career to serve and protect worker rights. Prior to joining the EEOC, Anderson worked 23 years at the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), a partner civil rights agency where he rose through the ranks from compliance officer to senior executive, serving in three districts and two regions. Beginning in 2012, Anderson held the position of regional director and led, coordinated, and administered the equal employment opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action (AA) compliance, outreach and technical assistance program for the Midwest Region, the largest region in OFCCP, representing about a quarter of the U.S. economy.

Anderson developed and executed programs throughout the region, ensuring that companies doing business with the federal government complied with EEO/AA requirements. Under his leadership, the Midwest region negotiated nearly 70 discrimination settlements valued at approximately $48 million for more than 40,000 victims of employment discrimination.

"It is my honor and privilege to join the EEOC, the premier civil rights enforcement agency in the United States," Anderson said. "I look forward to joining a great team in the Birmingham District and working with business, community and other stakeholders to prevent and remedy unlawful employment discrimination while striving to foster respectful and inclusive workplaces."

Anderson graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a double major in business administration and Spanish. He also served two years in the U.S. Peace Corps as a small business development volunteer in Nicaragua.

The Birmingham District includes the Birmingham District Office, Jackson Area Office and the Mobile Local Office with jurisdiction over the state of Alabama, the central and southern parts of Mississippi, and the Florida panhandle. The EEOC's Birmingham District Office is located at Ridge Park Place, 1130 22nd Street South, Suite 2000, Birmingham, AL 35205.

The EEOC advances opportunity in the workplace by enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. More information is available at www.eeoc.gov. Stay connected with the latest EEOC news by subscribing to our email updates.
