Targeted Disabilities

As of September 30, 2008, DSS employed 6 (1.04%) Individuals with Targeted Disabilities IWTD). In order to have met the federal 2% participation rate goal, 12 IWTD were needed. This is the same as the number of employees in FY 2007 and a decrease of 10 employees since FY 2004. The participation rate for FY 2007 was 1.14% and for FY 2004 was 0.84%. Over the 5-year period DSS had a net increase of 0.2% in employees with targeted disabilities.

EEO Complaint Processing

I. Counseling

DSS timely processed 100% of the 3 pre-complaint counselings (without remands) completed in FY 2008.

II. Bases of Complaints Filed

The bases of alleged discrimination most often raised were: (1) Reprisal; (2) Race (Black/African American); and (3) Religion. Of the 3 complaints filed at DSS, 1 contained an allegation of race (Black/African American) discrimination, and none contained allegations of disability discrimination.

III. Complaint Processing Times

DSS reported completing no investigations in FY 2008.

DSS' average processing time for all complaint closures increased from 367 days in FY 2007 to 453 days in FY 2008. The government-wide average was 336 days.

IV. Costs

DSS reported no counseling settlements in FY 2008. DSS reported completing no investigations in FY 2008.
