Commissioner Stuart Ishimaru has internship positions available in Washington, D.C. He is one of five Commissioners who lead the agency by establishing policy and regulations, approving litigation in a variety of areas, and establishing and overseeing various programs and initiatives. Internship assignments may include reviewing litigation recommendations and federal employment discrimination determinations, performing legal research and writing research memoranda on employment discrimination and administrative law issues, advising the Commissioner on issues of employment discrimination policy, attending meetings with the Commissioner and his staff attorneys, assisting in preparing for public EEOC meetings, and drafting speeches.

A background in employment discrimination and/or civil rights law is preferred. Strong writing skills are required. Must be available for a minimum of eight weeks and must be a current student.
