New Orleans District Office Employees
Travel Status and Temporary Housing Guidelines
From the Office of the Chief Financial Officer
as of 9/6/2005
- All New Orleans District Office employees are considered in temporary duty (TDY) travel status. This means each employee is eligible for EEOC funds at the per diem rate for food, lodging and miscellaneous expenses. A rental car may be authorized on a case-by-case basis.
- A travel authorization has been established for each employee to keep track of the funds. This is an open travel authorization. However, employees need to save all receipts or make a log of expenses, with amount and location, so they are able to voucher (claim reimbursement) for all expenses at a later date. Employee reimbursements are made up to the amount of the travel authorization within the limits of the Federal Travel Regulations.
- New Orleans employees have two options for accessing travel advances.
- For those employees who have Government Travel Cards and a PIN, the employee may draw cash from an ATM.
- For those employees who do not have a Government Travel Card or who lost their Government Travel card, the agency will write a convenience check to the employee. The check will be sent through overnight delivery to a secure address specified by the employee.
- During the period from September 5th through September 30th, each employee will be reimbursed for one round trip from their current location to the area of their home.
- For an employee who needs assistance with temporary housing such as a hotel, apartment (could be furnished apartment) or house, the agency may be able to help make the financial arrangements if the employee provides a name and telephone number for the business office, landlord or other contact for the temporary housing.
- Please contact Kicha Blackstone on 202-663-4935 with your specific needs and questions.
