EEOC's Final Plan for Retrospective Review of Significant Regulations

Per Executive Order 13563, 76 Fed. Reg. 3821 (Jan. 21, 2011), the EEOC developed a Final Plan for Retrospective Review of Significant Regulations, consistent with legal requirements and EEOC's resources and regulatory priorities. In January 2014, the EEOC submitted an updated report to the Office of Management and Budget, projecting the agency's retrospective regulatory review activities through 2023, available at http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/regulations/retro_review_status_report_1-13-14.cfm

The EEOC's mission is to stop and remedy unlawful employment discrimination. Its regulatory program supports effective enforcement of seven employment nondiscrimination laws:

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended;
  • the Equal Pay Act of 1963, as amended;
  • the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended;
  • Titles I and V of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended;
  • Sections 501 and 505 of the Rehabilitation Act, as amended;
  • Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act; and
  • the Government Employee Rights Act of 1991.
