Georgia Marchbanks Named Director Of EEOC's Tampa Office

Focus Will Be on Enforcement and Reaching Out to Stakeholders

TAMPA – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) named Georgia M. Marchbanks director of its Tampa Field Office, which is part of its Miami district. Marchbanks will be responsible for promoting equality of opportunity in the workplace and enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination in 23 central and western Florida counties. She assumes her position today.

Marchbanks came to the EEOC in July 1999 and was later appointed as director of the Albuquerque Area Office. Prior to joining the EEOC, Marchbanks served in the U.S. Air Force. She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and her final assignment was as Chief, Inquiries Division, Headquarters Air Force Inspection Agency, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.

"I am honored to have been given this extraordinary opportunity to make a difference in people's lives," Marchbanks said. "This is an exciting and challenging time for the EEOC and I remain committed to aggressively enforcing the federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. I am pleased to relocate to the Tampa Bay area and look forward to being an active member of the community."
