EEOC Announces New Director and Trial Attorney for its Savannah Local Office

ATLANTA - Today the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced the selection of Holly Hadfield Aguilar as director of its Savannah Local Office and James Allen as the office's trial attorney.  The Savannah Local Office is part of the EEOC's Atlanta District Office, which covers all of Georgia and southern South Carolina.

"It is with great pleasure that I announce the selection of Holly Aguilar as the new director of the Savannah Local Office," said Bernice Williams-Kimbrough, director of the EEOC Atlanta District Office.  "Holly brings a wealth of experience to the position and is passionate about advancing equal employment opportunity."

As the local director of the EEOC Savannah Local Office, Holly Aguilar will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the office and supervising the office staff.  The office's jurisdiction extends from South Georgia to southern South Carolina.  Aguilar has over 20 years experience in EEO and human resources management.  She began her career with the EEOC Philadelphia Office as an investigator in 2009.  Prior to joining the EEOC, Holly was the owner/consultant of a professional mediation service and conducted pro bono mediations with the EEOC Philadelphia Office.  She also worked at Home Depot serving as divisional and store human resources manager, where she trained staff on EEO laws and conducted internal investigations for EEO compliance.

"Illegal discrimination is still a major issue in people's lives today," said Holly Hadfield Aguilar, director of the EEOC Savannah Local Office.  "Serving as the local director in Savannah allows me to help people in South Georgia and South Carolina by making sure their claims are heard and their charges investigated.  I am excited to be a part of the Savannah community as well as the EEOC Atlanta District Office.  I look forward to getting to know the people and businesses of the jurisdiction we serve."

James W. "Jim" Allen will serve as the trial attorney in the Savannah office, where he will handle trial litigation and provide legal advice and other support to local staff responsible for investigating discrimination charges arising in South Georgia and southern South Carolina.  Allen has over 25 years' experience in employment law and general litigation.  Prior to joining the EEOC, Allen had his own employment law practice in Augusta, Ga., and in Washington state.  He has also worked as an employment attorney with Fisher & Phillips, a national employment law firm based in Atlanta, the Seattle office of Miller Nash LLP, and Fulcher Hagler, LLP.  Additionally, Allen served in the U.S. Navy as an attorney with the Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps.  He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in employment law matters, including both class action and multi-district litigation.

"The Savannah Local Office has historically been served by attorneys located in the Atlanta District Office," said Robert Dawkins, regional attorney for the EEOC's Atlanta District Office.   "The addition of a trial attorney in Savannah has been a long-held goal, and I am pleased to have Jim as part of the legal team."

"I am excited to come to Savannah and to begin work with the EEOC," Jim said.  "The EEOC has, for nearly 50 years, enforced federal laws against discrimination in employment.  I look forward to being an active member of the team."

The EEOC enforces federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.
