Ariane Hegewisch is Program Director for Employment & Earnings at the Institute for Women's Policy Research, a Think Tank concerned with women's economic and social equality in Washington, DC. She is responsible for IWPR's research on the gender wage gap and occupational segregation, and is a member of IWPR's workforce development team. She joined IWPR in 2007. Previously she was a fellow of the Center for WorkLive Law, U.C. Hastings. Prior to coming to the United States in 2001, she worked for over a decade as a senior researcher and lecturer on human resource management at one of Europe's top business schools, Cranfield School of Management. Before joining Cranfield in 1989 she worked for six years as a policy advisor on gender, employment and industrial policy in local government in London. She is a member of the 2015/2016 EEOC Taskforce on Workplace Harassment. She is an affiliated researcher at the Sloan Center on Aging & Work at Boston University, a member of the Work Family Researchers Network, and a fellow of the U.C. Hastings Center for WorkLife Law. She holds a BSc Economics from the London School of Economics and an MPhil Developing Studies from the IDS, University of Sussex.
