EEOC Chair Attends Meeting of Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons

On March 15, 2012, EEOC Chair Jacqueline Berrien participated in a meeting at the White House of the Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Human Trafficking. The Task Force includes several members of President Barack Obama's cabinet and senior advisors, and is chaired by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The EEOC is a natural partner in the struggle against modern-day slavery, and is working across the country with vulnerable populations to protect one of the most basic of their human and civil rights – the right to equal employment opportunity. The agency is working with partners across federal, state and local levels to enhance the enforcement of laws to protect trafficked workers, and will continue to work to end this unspeakable cruelty.
