Jumbo Supermarket Will Pay $20,000 to Settle EEOC Age Discrimination Suit

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – M1 5100 Corp., a grocery store doing business as JUMBO in Greenacres, Fla., has agreed to pay $20,000 and provide equitable relief to settle an age discrimination suit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.

The EEOC alleged that the 57-year old cook manager arrived to work for her regularly scheduled shift and discovered that her replacement — someone approximately 20 years younger

EEOC Sues Helados La Tapatia for Hispanic-Preference Hiring

FRESNO – Helados La Tapatia, Inc., violated federal law when they failed to hire non-Hispanic applicants for entry-level positions because of their race/national origin, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.

According to EEOC’s lawsuit, the Fresno, California-based company favored less-qualified Hispanic job applicants over all other applicants of a different race or national origin (including black, white and Asian applicants) in entry-level positions, such as Route Sales Driver
