Judicial Internship Program Denver Field Office

The EEOC is the federal agency responsible for enforcing the employment anti-discrimination laws which make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of that person's race, color, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, religion, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information.  If you are interested in employment law and civil rights, the EEOC is the agency for you.

The Hearings Unit is composed of Administrative Judges who preside over federal sector employment discrimination cases. The Administrative Judges rule on whether an individual has been a victim of discrimination. The Administrative Judges conduct hearings, rule on dispositive motions, and other discovery and prehearing matters. They also conduct settlement conferences in an attempt resolve pending cases.

Judicial Interns work directly with the Administrative Judges to help draft hearing decisions as well as other prehearing orders. Judicial Interns will conduct legal research and review the evidentiary record to assist the Administrative Judge in determining liability in the case. Judicial Interns can also observe hearings and mediations and assist in these proceedings as appropriate.

There is no funding for this Program. Most students receive credit, work study or a fellowship from their law school for their participation.
