EEOC Sues Jordan Carriers for Disability Discrimination

JACKSON, Miss. – Jordan Carriers, Inc., an over-the-road transportation company head­quartered in Natchez, Miss., which hauls commodities throughout the eastern United States, violated federal law by refusing to hire an applicant because of a previous back injury, the U.S. Equal Employ­ment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.

Dillard’s to Pay $900,000 to Resolve EEOC Race Discrimination Lawsuit

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Department store chain Dillard’s, Inc. will pay $900,000, revise itsjobposting process, and furnish other relief to settle an EEOC lawsuit charging failure to promote African American employees based on race, the federal agency announced today.

According to EEOC’s lawsuit, Dillard’s, which is headquartered in Little Rock, failed to post supervisory and management positions at its retail locations nationwide and failed to promote African American employees into those positions.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Thompson Construction Group, Inc., a heavy industrial contractor based in Sumter, S.C., will pay $115,000 and provide other relief to settle a race dis­crimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.
