West Sand, LLC/ Sandbar Mexican Grill  Settles EEOC  Pregnancy Discrimination Lawsuit

A Peoria, Ariz., restaurant will pay $15,000 and furnish other relief to settle a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC had alleged that West Sand, LLC, doing business as Sandbar Mexican Grill, unlawfully removed a pregnant employee from working on Sundays during football season because she was pregnant.

Señor Frog's, Altres Sued By EEOC For Severe, Rampant Sexual Harassment

Señor Frog's, a popular chain of Mexican-themed restaurants and bars, violated federal law by allowing the rampant sexual harassment of its female employees in Honolulu by high-level officials including the company owner, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today against both Señor Frog's and Altres, Inc.  Altres, a Hawaiian staffing company, was contracted by Señor Frog's to provide human resources services and oversee the company's non-management staff at the Señor Frog's restaurant & bar in Honolulu.

Wendy's Franchisee to Pay $41,500 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Suit

CTW L.L.C., a Wendy's franchisee, has agreed to pay $41,500 and provide other significant relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC charged the company with unlawfully denying employment to a hearing-impaired applicant because of his disability at a Killeen, Texas Wendy's.

EEOC Sues Baby O's Restaurant of Jackson for Race Discrimination and Retaliation

Baby O's Restaurant, Inc., a Mississippi corporation doing business in Jackson, Miss., as Danny's Cabaret , a "gentlemen's club" featuring "adult entertainment," violated federal law by subjecting four black female entertainers to discrimination because of their race, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed on Sept. 28.   The EEOC also alleged the restaurant retaliated against the discrimination victims after one filed a charge of discrimination.

JEC Enterprises Sued By EEOC for Sex Harassment

JEC Enterprises, Inc., which operates at least four McDonald's restaurants in Albuquerque, violated federal law by subject­ing a group of female employees, including teens, to sexual harassment and forcing some women to resign, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed September 28th.

EEOC Sues South Loop Club for Sex Harassment and Retaliation

The South Loop Club, a Chicago bar and grill located at 701 S. State Street, fostered a culture that enabled the sexual harassment of a number of female employees by owners and managers, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed this week.  When female employees complained to management about the ongoing and pervasive harassment, according to EEOC, they were fired or forced to quit.

EEOC and Einstein Noah Restaurant Group  Sign Mediation Pact

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Einstein Noah Restaurant Group (NASDAQ:BAGL) today announced the signing of a National Universal Agreement to Mediate (NUAM) to informally resolve workplace disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution  prior to an EEOC investigation or potential litigation. The NUAM applies to all company-owned Einstein Noah establishments throughout the United States.

EEOC Releases Tools to Educate Young Workers about Workplace Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today released a video and accompanying classroom guides to educate working-age students about sexual harassment and other forms of employment discrimination.  These tools were developed as part of EEOC's Youth@Work, an effort to educate America's youth about their employment rights and responsibilities and help employers create positive work experiences for young adults.  The tools are free to the public and will be posted online at www.youth.eeoc.gov under "free downloads." In addition, educators may request the video and classroom guides by e-mailing Youth.AtWork@eeoc.gov.

The EEOC had charged the company with harassing a young salesperson and firing a supervisor for standing up for her.
