MountainKing Potatoes, the name under which Smokin' Spuds, Inc. and Farming Technology, Inc., operate a potato warehouse in Monte Vista, Colo., created a hostile work environment by allowing managers to sexually harass female employees, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  The EEOC also charged that the company unlawfully retaliated against those who complained about the sexual harassment.

Retailer Fred Meyer Settles Second EEOC Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

National grocery chain Fred Meyer will pay $487,500 to seven workers employed at its Oak Grove, Ore., store and provide other relief to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.   This is the company's second such settlement in just over five years; in late 2008, the company also settled an EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit on behalf of three Oregon City store employees for $485,000.

Davis Typewriter Company Settles  EEOC Sexual Harassment Suit

Davis Typewriter Company, a Worthington, Minn., office furniture and office supply company, will be subject to a sweeping federal court injunction and pay $11,000 in emotional-distress damages to a former employee to settle a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The consent decree resolving the case was approved late yesterday by Judge David S. Doty of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
