Investigator Internships - Enforcement Unit San Jose Local Office

The San Jose Local Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has internship opportunities available for upper-level undergraduate (juniors and seniors), graduate, and law students. The EEOC is the federal agency charged with enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act of 2008, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and the Equal Pay Act.

Interns will primarily conduct interviews of individuals who present us with allegations of employment discrimination and may also conduct interviews with employer representatives and witnesses. Interns may also analyze case files for compliance with federal employment discrimination laws.   Law school students may also be assigned projects from the Local Director or the Supervisory Trial Attorney.

Applicants should have strong analytical, communication, research and writing skills. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Interns should expect to work at least 16 hours per week if interning during the school year, and 32 hours per week if interning during the summer. More hours are available, if desired. EEOC internships are unpaid; however, interns may be eligible for academic credit. The EEOC is an equal opportunity employer, so individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. This opportunity is ongoing.

Interested students should e-mail or mail a letter of interest, resume, brief writing sample, transcript, and a letter from the college / university verifying enrollment to:
