A Message from EEOC Chair Janet Dhillon on the Passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a champion of equal opportunity.  A pioneer for gender equality, she broke many barriers, earning her way to the top of her law school class, co-founding the Women’s Right Project at the American Civil Liberties Union, and becoming the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court.  She was also the first female tenured faculty member at Columbia Law School and co-authored the first legal textbook on sex discrimination.  But beyond her personal accomplishments, she also worked tirelessly throughout her career to ensure that others would have a fair chance to participate in our society.

The EEOC mourns the passing of Justice Ginsburg.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.  Her legacy is one that we will continue to honor in our work advancing equal opportunity in the workplace.
