Cudd Energy Services to Pay $39,900 To Settle EEOC Racial Harassment And Retaliation Lawsuit

A Texas-based oilfield service company operating in Williston, N.D., will pay $39,900 to settle a racial harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. The EEOC's lawsuit charged that Cudd Energy Services violated civil rights law by subjecting an employee to a racially hostile work environment because of his race, Asian, and then firing him after he complained about it.

Oncor Sued for Disability Discrimination and Mandatory Medication Disclosure Policy

Dallas-based Oncor Electric Delivery Company, LLC violated federal law by terminating a data entry clerk who would not agree to abide by a medication disclosure policy that oversteps employees' rights, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today in federal court. The employee was required to sign a document promising to reveal all medications that "could" affect her job performance. When she refused, she was sent home and ultimately received a termination letter in the mail, the EEOC said.

EEOC Sues Halliburton For  National Origin and Religious Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced today that it has filed suit against energy giant Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. for subjecting two employees to national origin and religious discrimination. The EEOC's suit also charged that Halliburton unlawfully retaliated against one of the employees by firing him for reporting the mistreatment of employees.

EEOC Sues Zachry Construction Corporation For  Disability Discrimination

Zachry Construction Corporation, a San Antonio-based construction and industrial contractor, violated federal law when it fired several employees whose post-offer medical questionnaires and subsequent medical examinations revealed they had disabilities, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit.  At the time of termination, all these employees were already performing their job duties in a satisfactory manner, the EEOC said.

EEOC Announces Two High-Level Staff Appointments

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has announced the appointment of two career federal employees to key Senior Executive Service (SES) mana­gerial positions at the agency. A Houston manufacturing facility has agreed to pay $150,000 and to provide other significant relief to settle a religious discrimination and retaliation lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC charged in its suit that U.S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc. (USSTP), a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation, violated federal law by revoking a worker's job offer because of his religion and in retaliation for insisting that his religious practices be accommodated. USSTP denied the allegations.

Texas Roadhouse to Pay $12 Million to Settle EEOC Age Discrimination Lawsuit

Texas Roadhouse, a national, Kentucky-based restaurant chain, will pay $12 million and furnish other relief to settle an age discrimin­ation lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Oppor­tunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. The EEOC had filed suit seeking relief for a class of applicants the EEOC charged had been denied front-of-the-house positions, such as servers, hosts, server assistants and bartenders, because of their age, 40 years and older.  As part of the settlement, Texas Roadhouse will change its hiring and recruiting practices.
