SunTrust Bank to Pay $300,000 to Settle  EEOC Sexual Harassment Lawsuit 

SunTrust Bank, a large regional bank, will pay $300,000 and furnish other relief to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged the company with subjecting three female employees at a Sarasota, Fla., branch to sexual harassment by the branch manager.

Court Enters Permanent Injunction Against American Tool & Mold in EEOC Disability Case

In an order issued yesterday, a federal judge entered a final judgment against American Tool & Mold, LLC (ATM), in a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.  The judge awarded $150,000 in damages and provided for extensive injunctive relief to remedy the discrimination.

Retailer Fred Meyer Settles Second EEOC Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

National grocery chain Fred Meyer will pay $487,500 to seven workers employed at its Oak Grove, Ore., store and provide other relief to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.   This is the company's second such settlement in just over five years; in late 2008, the company also settled an EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit on behalf of three Oregon City store employees for $485,000.

CollegeAmerica Sued by EEOC For Age Discrimination and Retaliation

CollegeAmerica, a private college based in Salt Lake City, violated federal age discrimination law by including unlawful provisions in a separation agreement with one of its former campus directors, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed on April 30. The EEOC also charged that CollegeAmerica further violated federal law by retaliating against the campus director by suing her seven days after learning she filed a discrimination charge.

Kenan Transport, LLC, a Delaware trucking company that operates a terminal in Spartanburg, S.C., will pay $27,000 to settle a pregnancy discrimination and retaliation lawsuit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged in its lawsuit that Kenan Transport violated federal law by discriminating against a female employee because she was pregnant and by retaliating against her because she made complaints about pregnancy discrimination.

Davis Typewriter Company Settles  EEOC Sexual Harassment Suit

Davis Typewriter Company, a Worthington, Minn., office furniture and office supply company, will be subject to a sweeping federal court injunction and pay $11,000 in emotional-distress damages to a former employee to settle a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The consent decree resolving the case was approved late yesterday by Judge David S. Doty of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
