Cornelia Gamlem

Ms. Gamlem has over 25 years of progressively responsible experience in human resource management at both the operations and corporate level, and is a recognized expert in equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and workplace diversity. She is the President and founder of the GEMS Group, a consulting firm offering solutions in human resource management, employee relations and workplace diversity. Since its inception, she has consulted with a variety of clients including government agencies, non-profit organizations, privately held firms and Fortune 500 companies.

Ms. Gamlem is co-author of two books on affirmative action, Roadmap to Success: 5 Steps to Putting Action into your Affirmative Action Program and Roadmap to Success: AAP Briefing for Managers. She has been interviewed for and quoted in a number of publications, including Financial Times, Fortune, New York Times, Newsday, and Across the Board, the magazine serving the Conference Board. She has testified before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Prior to starting her consulting practice, she served in a senior HR leadership role for a Fortune 500 company where she was responsible for implementing and managing corporate policies, programs and initiatives, and human resource success practices, and equal employment opportunity and affirmative action compliance.

Professional Affiliations & Accomplishments.

Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The Society for Human Resource Management is the world's largest human resource management association. An active volunteer leader, she served as Vice President at large for its Board of Directors (2000 and 2001 Boards). She was a member of and served as Chair of the National Workplace Diversity Committee (January 1997 to December 1999) which provided technical expertise and program leadership on issues that impact workplace diversity, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action. She served on the Board of Directors for the Global Forum in 1996 and 2001. She was selected to serve on SHRM's Workplace Diversity Panel (2004 – 2006) in recognition of her specialized knowledge and demonstrated contribution to this area of human resource management. She serves as part of the subject matter expert panel which reviews material in SHRM's Learning System which is used by HR professionals nationwide to prepare for HRCI's certification examination.
