WASHINGTON - The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold its next meeting on Monday, August 8, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. (Eastern Time), at agency headquarters in the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Conference Room (9th floor), 1801 L Street, N.W.

In accordance with the Sunshine Act, the meeting is open for public observation of the Commission's deliberations. Following the announcement of Notation Votes, the meeting will include presentations by EEOC staff on the following items (EEOC procedures require it to vote on the authorization of funding for contracts above a certain threshold):

  • Purchase of videoconferencing equipment, and
  • Upgrade the hardware and software to enhance the EEOC's Integrated Mission System (IMS) and to integrate the Fair Employment Practices Agencies (FEPAs) into the IMS. FEPAs are state and local agencies with which the EEOC has contractual worksharing agreements to process employment discrimination charges. IMS is the EEOC's primary information system used to manage mission-critical data on charge and case-related activities.

NOTE TO NEWS MEDIA: Notice of EEOC Commission Meetings are also published in the Federal Register and a recorded announcement is provided a full week in advance of such sessions at the phone numbers listed below. Any matter not discussed or concluded may be carried over to a later meeting. The Commission agenda is subject to revision. You may call (202) 663-7100 (voice) or (202) 663-4074 (TTY) on the day of the Commission Meeting to confirm the above schedule.

The EEOC is the federal government agency responsible for enforcing the nation's anti-discrimination laws in the workplace. Further information about the EEOC is available on its web site at www.eeoc.gov.
