Daimler Trucks North America Agrees to Pay $40,000 in EEOC Retaliation Lawsuit

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC, a Delaware corporation that operates a manufacturing plant in Mt. Holly, N.C., will pay $40,000 and provide substantial injunctive relief to settle an employment discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

Appeals Court Affirms Jury Verdict of over  $1.5 Million in EEOC Sexual Harassment and Retaliation Suit Against New Breed Logistics

A federal appeals court has refused to grant New Breed Logistics' petition for rehearing of a decision in favor of the U.S. Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.  The denial of the petition upholds a jury verdict of over $1.5 million in EEOC's lawsuit against the High Point, N.C.-based logistics services provider for sexual harassment and retaliation against three temporary female employees.  New Breed had petitioned the full panel of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to rehear the case.

Holiday Systems Voluntarily Settles EEOC  Sex Harassment & Retaliation Charges  After Agency Finds Violation

Holiday Systems International, a Las Vegas-based travel wholesaler, has agreed to settle alleged sex harassment and retaliation charges filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.  The settlement was reached after EEOC's investigation found Holiday Systems International violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (Title VII). Eight female employees alleged they were targets of sex harassment by a senior-level company official due to their gender and that some of the alleged victims were retaliated against upon reporting the harassment.  Although Holiday Systems International denies the allegations, the travel wholesaler agreed to resolve the matter in a timely manner.

Erie Strayer Company and Local Union Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Case

Erie Strayer Company, a concrete product and services company, located in Erie, Penn. will pay $15,000 and provide substantial injunctive relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced.  U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer entered a consent order on June 16, 2015, resolving the case.

EEOC to Discuss Workplace Retaliation  At June 17 Meeting

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold a meeting on Wed., June 17, at 9:30 a.m. (Eastern Time), at agency headquarters, 131 M Street, N.E., Washington D.C. The meeting, entitled "Retaliation in the Workplace: Causes, Remedies, and Strategies for Prevention" will be open to public observation. EEOC staff also will live tweet from the public meeting using the @EEOCNews Twitter handle and the hashtag #EEOCmtg.
