Scion Dental, a Unit of SkyGen USA, Ordered to Face Trial for Race Discrimination in EEOC Suit

A federal court has denied a motion by Scion Dental, Inc. to dismiss a discrimination lawsuit filed in September 2016 by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) before trial, the federal agency announced today. Scion Dental is a dental benefit administration company based in Menomonee Falls, Wis. The EEOC charged that Scion Dental violated federal law when it refused to hire an African-American temporary employee into a permanent position because of her race.

EEOC Releases Fiscal Year 2017 Enforcement  And Litigation Data

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced that 84,254 workplace discrimination charges were filed with the federal agency nationwide during fiscal year (FY) 2017, and secured $398 million for victims in the private sector and state and local government workplaces through voluntary resolutions and litigation. The EEOC's lawsuit charged that JL Schwieters Construction, Inc. violated federal law when it subjected two black employees to a hostile work environment, including physical threats, based on their race.
