A major financial services company, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans of Appleton, Wis., violated federal law by making public a temporary employee's confidential medical information, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.

Securitas Security Services, USA, Inc., ("Securitas"), a uniformed security and patrol services violated federal law by subjecting a female employee to a sexually hostile work environment and then discharging her after she complained, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC") charged in a lawsuit filed today. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a class sexual harassment lawsuit in federal district court on September 27, 2010 against Jimmy's Charhouse of Elgin, Inc. The suit was filed on behalf of a class of women subjected to sexually derogatory comments and names, sexual propositions, and physical touching by co-workers and managers. The suit also alleges that some of the women were terminated in retaliation for opposing and complaining about the sexually hostile work environment.

EEOC Sues Papa T's for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation at Multiple Restaurants

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit in federal district court against the owners/operators of several Chicago-area Papa T's restaurants and nightclubs.  The suit is filed on behalf of a class of women subjected to sexually derogatory comments and names, physical touching, and physical threats by the owner.  The suit also alleges that at least one of the women was terminated in retaliation for opposing and complaining about the sexually hostile work environment.

EEOC Sues Ricoh for Harassment and Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced it has filed a lawsuit against Ricoh Americas Corporation for subjecting an African employee and two Hispanic employees to harassment based on their national origin at one of its work sites in Greensboro, N.C.  The lawsuit further charged that the African employee was harassed based on his race.  The company then suspended and fired the three employees after they made several complaints to Ricoh's managers about the harassment, the EEOC said.

The lawsuit also names CVS Caremark as a defendant because CVS bought Longs in August 2008 after the alleged discrimination occurred and is liable as Longs' successor.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a lawsuit today charging that global plastics manufacturerPromens, Inc., formerly known as Bonar Plastics, Inc., violated federal law by sexually harassing female employees and retaliating against employees who complained. The EEOC also asserted that the company segregated employees by sex in that it assigned women and men to different departments of its West Chicago facility. The molding department to which women were assigned paid lower wages and provided employees with less opportunity for advancement than other jobs at the facility.
