Legal Unit Law Student Internships Denver Field Office

The Legal Unit of the EEOC’s Denver Field Office seeks one to three law students for internships each fall, spring, and summer. Start dates and schedules are flexible, and students may complete the internship for credit or not for credit. Internships are unpaid. Applicants should send a cover letter, resume, and writing sample.

Legal Unit interns will assist with a broad variety of EEOC trial attorney work. The Legal Unit prosecutes violations of Title VII, the ADEA, the ADA, the EPA, and GINA against employers in a five-state region: Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Utah. Interns will be involved in all aspects of the EEOC’s litigation. Interns will likely have opportunities to interact with charging parties, aggrieved individuals, and witnesses. Interns will gain experience reviewing and analyzing important evidence. Interns will be immersed in legal research and writing both for pre-trial matters and (if applicable) trial for any pending cases. When possible, interns will be invited to attend depositions and court hearings. Additionally, interns will assist the Legal Unit providing legal advice to the EEOC’s Enforcement Unit, which investigates charges of discrimination. In this capacity, interns will assist with reviewing and evaluating evidence and consult on legal issues that arise in the course of investigations.

Requirements/Preferences:

Must be a current law student and have strong research and writing skills. Prior coursework in employment discrimination law is preferred, but not required. Interns must abide by the EEOC's confidentiality requirements.
