EEOC Celebrates 50 Years of Civil Rights Work

Nashville Area Office Hosting Open House

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Area Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) invites the public to attend an open house on July 29 to celebrate the civil rights agency's 50th anniversary.


WHEN: July 29, 2015 from 1:00 p. m. to 2:30 p. m.
WHERE: EEOC Nashville Area Office, 220 Athens Way, Suite 350, Nashville, Tenn.

The public will be able to meet and speak with the staff and celebrate the agency's accomplishments, including the ongoing work of EEOC and the challenges it faces in the 21st century. The theme for the event is "Celebrating the EEOC's 50th Anniversary for Justice and Equality in the Workplace." Refreshments will be provided. On-street parking is available in a large lot behind the building.

EEOC was created by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which was signed on July 2, 1964, and the agency began operation one year later, on July 2, 1965.
