Notice of Revised Proposed Changes to the EEO-1 Report to Collect Pay Data from Certain Employers

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has proposed a revision to its proposal to change the Employer Information Report (EEO-1) to include collecting pay data from employers, including federal contractors, with more than 100 employees. This new data will assist the agency in identifying possible pay discrimination and assist employers in promoting equal pay in their workplaces.

This proposal would add aggregate data on pay ranges and hours worked to the EEO-1 information collected, beginning with the September 2017 report. Proposed changes were initially published in the Federal Register on February 1, 2016.  Members of the public had 60 days to submit comments.

A public hearing was held on March 16, 2016 to gather information and hear public comment on the proposal.

The July 14, 2016, revised proposal considers this feedback and proposes changes to when and how pay data will be collected. The revised proposal may be reviewed on the Federal Register website and was published on July 14, 2016. Members of the public will have 30 days from that date - until Aug. 15, 2016 - to submit written comments to the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which approves federal information collections.
