Wisconsin Employer Resolves EEOC Case Involving Wellness Program and Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that it has resolved its suit against Orion Energy Systems, a Manitowoc, Wis., lighting company, challenging a wellness program under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and alleging that the employer retaliated against an employee who objected to the program by terminating her.

Mine Rite Technologies Sued For Disability Harassment And Discrimination

Mine Rite Technologies, LLC violated federal law by subjecting an employee at its Buffalo, Wyo., location to a hostile work environment based on his disability, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today. The EEOC also charged the company with forcing the employee out of his job because of his disability.

Texas Roadhouse to Pay $12 Million to Settle EEOC Age Discrimination Lawsuit

Texas Roadhouse, a national, Kentucky-based restaurant chain, will pay $12 million and furnish other relief to settle an age discrimin­ation lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Oppor­tunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. The EEOC had filed suit seeking relief for a class of applicants the EEOC charged had been denied front-of-the-house positions, such as servers, hosts, server assistants and bartenders, because of their age, 40 years and older.  As part of the settlement, Texas Roadhouse will change its hiring and recruiting practices.

Mariscos Altata Sued by EEOC For Sexual And  Age-Based Harassment and Retaliation

Phoenix restaurant Mariscos Altata violated federal law by subjecting female employees to a hostile work environment based on their sex, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today. The EEOC also charged the company with subjecting one female employee to a hostile work environment based on her age and retaliating against female employees that opposed the harassment that they endured.

EEOC to Examine the State of the Workforce and the Future of Work

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Eastern Time), at agency headquarters, 131 M Street, N.E., Washington D.C. The meeting, entitled "The State of the Workforce and the Future of Work," will be open to public observation.
