Howard University Failed to Hire Applicant Due to His Disability, EEOC Says

Howard University in the District of Columbia violated federal law when it refused to hire an applicant for a security position at its hospital because of his disability, diabetes, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  Howard University, founded in 1862, is a private, historically black university.  Howard University Hospital is a division of the University at large and is subject to its employment policies and procedures.

Court Orders Hawaii HealthCare Professionals and Its Owner to Pay over $190,000 for Age Discrimination

Hawaii Healthcare Professionals, Inc. – also known as Hawaii Professional HomeCare Services, Inc. – and its owner have been ordered to pay $193,236 to a woman allegedly fired due to her age, in a default judgment awarded by U.S. District Judge Alan C. Kay in Hawaii, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today.  The judgment resolves an age discrimination lawsuit filed by the EEOC against the Honolulu-based home health care services company in 2010.

West Texas Oil Field Service Company Settles EEOC National Origin Harassment Suit Mid-Trial

Midland, Texas-based Blue Ridge Resources, L.L.C. has settled a national origin harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on the second day of trial, before the case was submitted to the jury, the federal agency announced today. The settle­ment pays three former oil field service crew members $43,000 in damages for the mistreat­ment and provides extensive injunctive relief to prevent future unlawful conduct.
