St. John Health System Settles EEOC Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

St. John Health System, Inc. of Tulsa will pay $100,000 and furnish other relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that the company violated the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) by failing to reasonably accommodate a hearing-impaired operating room scrub technician.

Patterson UTI Drilling must Comply with Subpoena by EEOC and Disclose Databases on Workforce

A federal judge has ordered Patterson UTI Drilling, a national company with oil and natural gas extraction rigs in 16 states and Canada, to disclose to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) the structure and contents of any of the company's electronic databases pertaining to its current and former employees, the EEOC announced today.  In addition, the judge ordered that Patterson disclose information about every one of the company's employees and any records pertaining to complaints of employment discrimination for a two-year period.

EEOC to Hold Listening Session Nov. 20 in New Orleans to Advance Hiring of Workers with Disabilities

Top officials of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Civil Rights (DOJ), will jointly hold a town hall listening session to draw public input on new federal regulations and procedures to promote the hiring of people with disabilities. Cheesecake Factory Settles EEOC Suit in Case of Severe Same-Sex Sexual Harassment

Cheesecake Factory, Inc., a nationwide restaurant chain that touts itself as a place to create "lasting memories with family and friends," will pay $345,000 and furnish other relief to settle a sexual harassment suit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that six male employees were subjected to repeated sexual harassment at the company's Chandler Mall location.

Regal Entertainment Group, a national movie theater chain, will pay $175,000 and furnish significant remedial relief to settle a sex discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC had charged that the company subjected a male employee to sexual harassment by a female co-worker and then retaliated against him for complaining about the unlawful conduct – along with two supervisors who tried to help.

Eaton's Neck Fire District Settles EEOC Age Discrimination Suit

The Eaton's Neck Fire District on Long Island will pay $213,840 to settle a class age discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The damages will be made in retroactive payments to a group of 15 fire­fighters who had been discriminated against based on their age and provide increased monthly pension amounts going forward to several firefighters.
