Media Advisory: EEOC & OFCCP to Host Hire Initiative Roundtable on Skills Based Hiring

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) will host  a third roundtable as part of  its Hiring Initiative to Reimagine Equity (HIRE). The virtual roundtable, Skills Based Hiring: Removing Barriers and Paving Pathways to an Inclusive Workforce, will discuss the challenges faced by individuals without a degree or formal qualifications in obtaining employment. Speakers will also highlight how hiring based on practical skills and experience can create a more equitable and diverse workforce.

HIRE is a multi-year joint initiative that aims to boost diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in hiring and recruitment to advance equal employment opportunity and help provide workers with access to good jobs.

As employers continue to struggle to fill job vacancies and retain talented workers, this is a critical time to reimagine how to hire, promote and retain employees.

Speakers will include EEOC Chair Charlotte A. Burrows, OFCCP Director Jenny R. Yang, and industry leaders with expertise in skills-based hiring practices.
