Rental Pro to Pay $37,000 to Settle EEOC Age Discrimination Lawsuit

Rental Pro, a miscellaneous equipment rental company located in Somerset, Ky., with locations in Hazard, London and Pikeville, Ky., will pay $37,000 to settle an age discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

Evans Fruit Settles Sexual Harassment and Retaliation Lawsuits With EEOC, NW Justice Project

One of the largest apple producers in the United States will pay $272,000 to 20 claimants as part of a settlement resolving sexual harassment and retaliation claims pending before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today. Evans Fruit has also agreed to take steps to ensure that the workers do not suffer any retaliation as a result of their participation in the lawsuits or settlement.

Female Laundry Workers Receive $582,000 in Settlement of EEOC Sexual Harassment Case

Suffolk Laundry Services, Inc. will pay $582,000 to eight former employees to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  The Southampton, N.Y.-based commercial laundry service also agreed to a four-year consent decree barring discrimination, instituting new procedures, and mandating training on sexual harassment to ensure that the kind of abuse that led to this lawsuit does not happen in the future.

Cosmic Concepts, Ltd., trading as Media Star Promotions, violated federal law when it refused to provide a reasonable accommodation to a field representative with a disability, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit announced today.  EEOC also charged that the company unlawfully demanded that she waive her rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and then fired her based on her disability and refusal to sign the waiver.

New Mexico Department of Corrections Sued by EEOC for Age Discrimination and Retaliation

The New Mexico Department of Corrections (NMDOC), which operates correctional facilities throughout New Mexico, discriminated against older workers in various ways with respect to promotions and terms, conditions and privileges of employment because they were over 40, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today. Further, EEOC said, when employees filed internal complaints, filed EEOC charges or participated in EEO investigations or proceedings, they were subjected to unlawful retaliation.

Vacation Resorts International (VRI), a provider of management and marketing services to resorts, condominiums, and timeshares, violated federal law when it permitted a manager at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort (which VRI manages) to sexually harass a groundskeeping / housekeeping employee, Katrina Archer, and other female employees, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed Sept. 30.  EEOC also charged VRI with unlawfully firing Archer when she resisted and reported the harassment.

Stanley Glaser, dba Glaser Organic Farms in Southwest Miami-Dade County, subjected its kitchen employees to a hostile work environment because of national origin and color, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency charged in a lawsuit filed today.   Glaser also unlawfully retaliated against an employee for filing a discrimination charge, the agency said.
