Stuart J. Ishimaru, Acting Chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), testified this morning before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee in favor of the Paycheck Fairness Act.  Attached is a text of his prepared remarks.

The Pollard Agency, a Fruithurst, Ala.-based contract security company, unlawfully discriminated against an employee because of her religion, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed on March 8, 2010.

In a ruling issued late on March 8, 2010, Magistrate Judge Janie S. Mayeron of U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota ordered the Minnesota-based frozen food delivery company Schwan's Home Service to comply with a federal government subpoena by March 29, 2010.  The subpoena, issued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) pursuant to an investigation of a charge of sex discrimination filed by former Schwan's employee Kim Milliren, seeks personnel information about persons employed as general managers at Schwan's facilities nationwide from January 1, 2006 to the present.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a class lawsuit here today charging that Jay Medicar Transportation tolerated the sexual harassment of a number of female employees by one of its senior managers and retaliated against one employee after she complained about the harassment. The company provides medical transportation services in the Chicago area.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced the settlement of a lawsuit filed against Valley Isle Motors Ltd, a Maui-based car dealership, resulting in a $32,500 payment to a job applicant and other relief to remedy alleged disability discrimination.

A&A Contracting, a St. Louis construction company, has agreed to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The EEOC's suit, which was filed last fall, charged that the company violated federal law by firing one of its permanent construction workers because it regarded him as disabled due to his history of liver and kidney problems, including cancer.

Federal District Judge John W. Darrah has signed a consent decree under which Direct Wines, Inc., formerly known as Beverage Solutions, Inc., a Lake Forest, Ill., beverage distribution company, will pay $50,000 to end a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S.  Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

HD Supply, Inc., one of nation's largest wholesale suppliers of building materials, has agreed to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC had charged that a female office clerk was sexually harassed and ridiculed by a male co-worker at the company's facility in Gillette, Wyo.

Alstrun LLP, which used to own and operate a Philadelphia McDonald's, will pay $90,000 and furnish significant equitable relief to settle a federal discrimination lawsuit on behalf of a worker with an intellectual disability, the U.S. Equal Employ­ment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today.
