U.S. EEOC Opens Registration for San Diego 2-Day EEO Seminar for Private and Public Employers

Federal Agency's 2-Day Seminar Will be at the Crowne Plaza in San Diego on Aug. 13 and 14

SAN DIEGO - The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC),the federal agency tasked with enforcing laws against employment discrimination and harassment, announced it is hosting a two-day EEOC Technical Assistance Program Seminar (TAPS) geared toward human resources and union officials, attorneys, mediators, and equal employment opportunity (EEO) professionals in the private and federal sectors, along with other interested parties will take place Aug. 13 and 14 in San Diego, Calif.

This year's seminar will focus on the future of EEO and will feature EEO updates about combatting workplace harassment, the opioid epidemic, workplace civility, the use of social media in the workplace, and updates on EEO law and training on how to conduct effective investigations. Expert EEOC presenters participating in the seminar include Los Angeles District Director Rosa Viramontes, Regional Attorney Anna Park, and Supervisory Administrative Judge Diane Gross. Officials from the Department of Justice, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and others are slated to present.

 "The EEOC is excited to bring their EEO training seminar to San Diego this year," said Chris Green local director for the EEOC San Diego local office. "We are very pleased to offer this one-of-a-kind seminar with a focus on the future of EEO to the San Diego employer community."

Rosa Viramontes, district director for the EEOC's Los Angeles District, which includes San Diego in its jurisdiction, said, "We are thrilled to return to San Diego to connect with local employer representatives, federal agencies, attorneys, and academics. Our seminar is an opportunity to hear firsthand from EEOC officials who will provide updates and guidance on how to address and prevent discrimination, harassment and retaliation in the workplace."
