EEOC Sues Kintetsu International Express for Disability Harassment, Retaliation

Kintetsu International Express (USA), Inc., a major worldwide travel company, violated federal law when it subjected an employee to disability-related harassment and discrimination, and retaliated against employees who protested the harassment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed yesterday.

American Apparel Sued by EEOC for Disability Discrimination

American Apparel, Inc., a clothing manufacturer which operates what it says is the largest garment factory in the nation, violated federal law when it terminated a disabled garment worker while he was on medical leave for cancer treatment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed last week.

Maverik Country Stores Sued for Violation of Americans with Disabilities Act

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a lawsuit yesterday against Maverik, Inc., owners of the Maverik Country Store convenience store chain. which has locations through the mountain West.  According to EEOC's complaint, Maverik intentionally and unlawfully discriminated against Randy Ramos, who is HIV-positive, in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA).

Western Trading Company Sued by EEOC

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a lawsuit yesterday against Western Trading Company, Inc., an Army-Navy surplus company in metro Denver. The lawsuit alleges three violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) based on Western Trading's dealings with Tyler Riley, an employee with epilepsy who has grand mal seizures and who briefly worked for the company.

Williams Country Sausage Company Sued By EEOC For Race And Wage Discrimination

A Union City, Tenn., pork company violated federal law when it engaged in race discrimination by paying an African-American maintenance worker less than others and subjecting him to a hostile work environment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed September 30, 2010. The EEOC also charged that Williams Country Sausage forced him out of his job.

EEOC Sues C.G.D. Developers For Race Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced that it filed a race discrimination lawsuit today against C.G.D. Developers, Inc. for subjecting a black employee to a hostile work environment because of his race, at its facility in Gaffney, S.C. and various worksites where the employee, Joe M. Wheeler, was assigned. CGD is a South Carolina corporation and employed approximately 20 employees at the time of the harassment.

Indiana Health Care Service Sued by EEOC for Pregnancy Discrimination

An Indiana health care service corporation operating a dental clinic in South Bend violated federal law when it fired an employee because she was pregnant and about to go on maternity leave, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  According to the EEOC's suit (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. Indiana Health Centers, Inc., Civil Action No. 3:10-cv-412-PF), Indiana Health Centers, Inc. terminated a dental hygienist shortly after her supervisor learned she was pregnant.

EEOC Sues Resources for Human Development, Inc. for Disability Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed suit against Resources for Human Development, Inc. (RHD), for firing an employee because of her obesity, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the agency announced today.  The case arose from the charge of a former RHD employee, Lisa Harrison, who claimed that RHD fired her from a New Orleans facility because of her disability.
