Taco Bell Operator Pays $27,000 to Resolve EEOC Religious Discrimination Lawsuit

Family Foods, Inc., a North Carolina corporation that operates a chain of Taco Bell restaurants in eastern North Carolina, will pay $27,000 and furnish other relief to resolve a religious discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

EEOC Issues Enforcement Guidance

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today issued an updated Enforcement Guidance on employer use of arrest and conviction records in employment decisions under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (Title VII). The Commission today voted 4-1 to approve the guidance document.  The Commission also issued a Question-and-Answer (Q&A) document about the guidance. The Enforcement Guidance and Q&A document will be available on the EEOC's website at www.eeoc.gov.

Next Commission Meeting Wednesday, April 25

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission  (EEOC) will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 25, at 9:30 a.m. (Eastern Time),  at agency headquarters, 131 M Street, N.E. Kaizen Restaurants, Inc., which operates dozens of Burger King restaurants in Oregon and Washington, has agreed to pay $150,000 and implement preventive measures to resolve a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The lawsuit charged that Kaizen allowed a supervisor to sexually harass a teen employee working at her first job.
