East Hawaii Veterinary Center, LLC, a veterinary clinic in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, violated federal law by sexually harassing, firing and/or forcing out a class of female employees due to their gender, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed yesterday.

EEOC Sues El Palacio For Pregnancy Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced that it is suing El Palacio Mexican Restaurants, Inc. at its Bullhead City location for failing to hire an applicant when it learned she was pregnant. El Palacio has five different restaurants in the state.

Securitas Security Services, USA, Inc., ("Securitas"), a uniformed security and patrol services violated federal law by subjecting a female employee to a sexually hostile work environment and then discharging her after she complained, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC") charged in a lawsuit filed today. Securitas employs over 260,000 people in 40 countries.

New York-based Fox News Network LLC, which owns and operates the Fox News Channel based in Washington, D.C., retaliated against news reporter Catherine Herridge after she complained to Fox that she was subjected to disparate pay and unequal employment opportunities because of her gender and age, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced in a lawsuit filed today.

EEOC Sues Resources for Human Development, Inc. for Disability Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed suit against Resources for Human Development, Inc. (RHD), for firing an employee because of her obesity, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the agency announced today.  The case arose from the charge of a former RHD employee, Lisa Harrison, who claimed that RHD fired her from a New Orleans facility because of her disability.

Two Railroad Companies Sued by EEOC for Retaliation

Watco Companies, Inc. and Kansas City Southern Railway Company, wholly owned by Kansas City Southern (KCS), violated federal law by retaliating against a former employee, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed on September 30, 2010.  Watco, based in Pittsburg, Kan., is a short-line railroad and provides switching services to other railroads, including Kansas City Southern Railway, which is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.  KCS is one of Watco's largest and most important clients.

EEOC Sues Papa T's for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation at Multiple Restaurants

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit in federal district court against the owners/operators of several Chicago-area Papa T's restaurants and nightclubs.  The suit is filed on behalf of a class of women subjected to sexually derogatory comments and names, physical touching, and physical threats by the owner.  The suit also alleges that at least one of the women was terminated in retaliation for opposing and complaining about the sexually hostile work environment.

Longs Drugs Sued by EEOC for Race and Gender Discrimination, Retaliation

Longs Drugs violated federal law by discriminating against an African-American female employee and firing her shortly after she reported the discrimination to human resources, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  The lawsuit also names CVS Caremark as a defendant because CVS bought Longs in August 2008 after the alleged discrimination occurred and is liable as Longs' successor.

EEOC Sues Ricoh for Harassment and Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced it has filed a lawsuit against Ricoh Americas Corporation for subjecting an African employee and two Hispanic employees to harassment based on their national origin at one of its work sites in Greensboro, N.C.  The lawsuit further charged that the African employee was harassed based on his race.  The company then suspended and fired the three employees after they made several complaints to Ricoh's managers about the harassment, the EEOC said.

EEOC Sues Utah Construction Company for Race Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced that it is suing a Utah construction company for workplace discrimination.  EEOC charges that managers for Holmes & Holmes created and perpetuated a hostile work environment of racial harassment against African-American employees and then fired them in retaliation for complaining about the racial harassment.  The lawsuit is filed on behalf of two African-American victims and a class of similarly aggrieved employees.
